IOT: Österreicher noch skeptisch
Despite international competitive pressure, we have catching up. But: There are also glances of light.
One thing is clear: the networking of the machines and production facilities over the Internet is no longer to be stopped. And nevertheless, Austria’s manufacturing industry is showing a reserved attitude, as the professors Friedrich Bleicher and Udo Traussnig explain in an interview for FACTORY . One reason is that domestic companies are reluctant to adopt successful processes. In addition, many are afraid of hacker attacks and so prefer to use components without Internet connection in their production.
Masterplan is required
According to Udo Traussnig of Campus 02 in Graz, however, new companies are emerging, which are open to the topic Internet of Things. Especially in the areas of logistics and fleet management, he sees good opportunities. What the experts recommend to every industrial enterprise: Do not wait, but now worry about where the company will be in the coming years. The goals and steps should be defined in a master plan.
